Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
was a Scottish writer and a
physician. He was born
in 1859. He became
famous thanks to his
detective stories and his
hero Sherlock Holmes,
but he also wrote plays,
romances, poetry and
historical novels.
He entered the University of Edinburgh
Medical School in 1881, where Dr.
Joseph Bell was teaching. Doyle had him
as a professor and took him as a model
for his hero Sherlock Holmes.
He wrote four novels about the brilliant
detective and several short stories, which
were all immensely successful.
