Richard I was king of England between 1189 and 1199. He was a great soldier and got the nickname "Richard the Lionheart" Richard was born on 1157, in England. He was the son of king Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine As soon as he became king, Richard began planning to lead a crusade to the Holy Land. As he returned from the crusade, he was captured in Vienna and imprisoned by Duke Leopold of Austria (1192-1194). After his return, Richard did not stay long in England.
