"There is" est utilisé quand le groupe nominal qui suit est au singulier.
"There are" est utilisé quand le groupe nominal qui suit est au pluriel.
a. There is a bird in the tree.
b. There are beautiful flowers in the garden.
c. There are two pairs of socks under the bed.
d. In winter, there is snow in Scotland.
e. Today, there are clouds in the sky.
f. There is a good western on tonight.
g. There are lot of English people on this ferryboard.
