1888 was a dark era for Whitechapel, It's only inhabitants being poor people and it became more of a struggle with the incoming immigrants. the lack of light during night made it perfect for murderers such as Jack the ripper to act. That year, the man managed to kill about 5 women (who had to sell their body for money). Alcohol was also cheap, making it easier to get drunk and increasing the risks of becoming a victim.
