There are a few reasons why English should probably not be considered the official language of the United States. Firstly, Native Americans were the first people in America and they spoke their own language but  Colonizers forced them to speak the languages spoken by them (the Colonizers), which was mainly English (but even they didn't only speak English!) . (basically not the oldest language in the US).  Secondly, English is definitely not the only language spoken in the US. There are 350 other languages spoken in the US. Even though English is the most common language spoken in the US, this doesn't mean that it will always be, with languages such as Spanish and Vietnamese being on the rise. (not the only language spoken in the US). In conclusion, I think the U.S should not have an "official language".
