Last week we learned about the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. In the 1950s black people fought for equal rights. President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. on July 2, 1964. He used 75 pens to sign the document and then gave then away. He gave one to Martin Luther King. Dr.King led the black community from 1955 to 1968 when he was killed in Memphis.
