The purpose of Jim Crows laws segregation was to keep black and white people separate. Because at the time racism was considered normal and being black was considered as dirty, which is why Caucasians wanted to have privileges and more power. In reality slavery was already over but they wanted to keep African-Americans still enslaved in their minds so that they would think that Caucasians are better than them which is false. Therefore today people are fighting for equality and they are talkingmore about white privileges and about what it means to be black.
