Since Roman times, the city of Bath In England is famous for these thermal baths. These baths were considered as a treatment for many contagious diseases.
Every town had its own bath complex like a large swimming pool. There were 170 baths in Rome during the reign of Augustus and by 300 A.D that number had increased to over 900 baths.
Roman bath was constructed in the first century after Christ by John Wood the Elder and John Wood the Younger. Father and son was architect they are also known to have build The Circus, Queen square and Prior Park.
People were not just the bathroom to wash, but also to divertire and heal itself.The wide bath houses had restaurants games rooms and libraries.
When you visting Roman bath you would take off your clothes in the changing room. Then you would relax in the warm room.
After you go in the hot room, the steam make you sweat
This piece of the Roman baths is a pool, lined with 45 sheets of lead, and filled with hot spa water.
The bath is 1.6 metres deep which is ideal for bathing and has leading down on all sides. Niches around the baths would have held shoals for bathers and possibly small tables for drinks or snacks
