Voici un exemple de dialogue :
Ceci est un petit paratexte pour présenter le contexte du dialogue : Today is the first school day of John, a young American boy who had to move to Tokyo, in Japan because his father was being promoted for his work in the country. John has just entered the school and a student named Akemi comes to greet him and introduce him to the culture and way of life of the students at the school.
- Hi, my name is Akemi, aren't you the new American student ? said Akemi.
- Yes, I'm new in this school, my name is John, I hope we can be good friends. said John.
- I also hope we can be good friends. Said Akemi.
- By the way, why did you come to Japan? Asked Akemi to John.
- My father got a promotion in Japan, and I had to move, leaving my friends to go to a country I didn't know. Answered John to Akemi.
- Ah, sorry for you it must have been a very hard step for you. Said Akemi.
- Ye, it was hard, but well i need to discover this country, make new friends and live happily my life. Said John.
- Yes, this is the right thing to do. Besides, I will introduce you to the school, the culture and the way of life of the students. Said Akemi.
- Thank you, Akemi. Said John.
- No problem ! Said Akemi.
- In the japanese schools, there are Five major subjects: Mathematics, Japanese, English, Science, History/Geography
.
And Four "secondary" (but compulsory) subjects: Music, Physical Education, Arts, Homemaking/Technology (including courses in cooking/nutrition, textile/sewing, home/interior care, childcare, technology).
But, the Japanese school system is modeled just like the U.S. system!
Elementary School - 6 years, Junior High - 3 years, High School - 3 years, University - 4 years.
Also, The school year begins in April and ends in March.
There are also a lot of events organised for schools : Welcoming ceremony: the whole school gathers in the gymnasium. We have a speech from the principal, a presentation. We expose the pedagogical project for the coming year, we make resolutions.
Annual festivities: theater, music festival, graduation, etc.
In schools, you also need to wear the school uniforms, there are also some clubs in schools, and other cool things you will discover all along the years.
Said Akemi to John.
- Wow ! Thanks Akemi for telling me all of those awesome new features of the japanese schools. I'm really excited now , about going to school. See you in class soon ! Said John
- See you soon also, John ! Said Akemi
