When sulfuric acid is poured onto sugar, there is formation of carbon and steam water.

When you mix sugar (sucrose) with sulfuric acid (H2SO4), the sugar dehydrates and chars. It's definately a chemical transfomation.

b. Quels sont les substrats de cette transformation? Quels sont les produits?

It is therefore transformed into carbon and water. The dissolution reaction is as follows:

C12 H22 O11  -> 12 C + 11 (H2 O).
