Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital, in the London Borough of Fulham, on July 23, 19892. He is the only son of Alan George Radcliffe, a literary agent, and Marcia Jeannine Gresham (born Marcia Gresham Jacobson ), a casting agent. Her father is Protestant with Irish roots and her mother is Jewish. She was born in South Africa and has Polish and Russian origins. Daniel Radcliffe claims to be “very proud to be Jewish” Before playing the most famous wizard in the world of children's literature, he made his debut in 1999 in David Copperfield, a BBC television movie, playing the role of David as a child. On the set, he met Maggie Smith and Imelda Staunton who would later play Minerva McGonagall and Dolores Umbridge respectively in the Harry Potter series.
