Sujet + BE ( conjugué au temps de la phrase à la voix active ) + Participe Passé ( 3 ème colonne des verbes irréguliers ) + complément d'agent introduit par " by «
1/ Dans cet exercice, pour distinguer les phrases passive, regarde la construction du groupe verbal ( essaie de repérer les formes « BE » ( conjugué) + participe passé ) —> si il y en a c’est du passif.
a. The British conquered South Africa. ( ACTIVE )
b. India was colonized by the British Empire. ( PASSIVE )
c. They have discovered a new land! ( ACTIVE )
d. In the Victorian era, many objects were invented by scientists. ( PASSIVE )
e. Queen Victoria was declared Empress of India.( PASSIVE )
f. David Livingston was the most famous British explorer. ( ACTIVE )
2/ Pour cet exercice tu dois mettre à la voix passive au prétérit ( donc il y aura toujours « BE » au prétérit + participe passé )
a. English was spoken in many places in India.
b. The Great Exhibition was held in the 19th century in England.
c. This poster about the British Empire was designed by our class.
d. That painting was bought by the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum.
e. The first incandescent light bulb was invented by Lindsay.
3/ Cet exercice n’est pas plus compliqué.
Tu commences par repérer le COD de la phrase active —> il va devenir sujet de la phrase passive.
Ex phrase a. They invented the steam engine in England in the 19th century.
( Ils ont inventé la machine à vapeur en Angleterre au 19ème siècle ) ——> COD : la machine à vapeur ( tu as ton sujet )
Donc ; The steam engine ….
Ensuite il faut mettre au même temps ( prétérit) et au passif ——> comme pour l’ex 2/ (BE au prétérit ) was +( participe passé de invent) INVENTED
Donc : The steam engine was invented ….
Enfin tu ajoutes le complément d’agent ( qui était le sujet de la voix active ) —> they devient them
Donc : The steam engine was invented by them in the 19th century
5 La machine à vapeur a été inventée par eux en Angleterre au 19ème siècle.
Tu fais la même chose pour les autres phrases ( attention, n’oublie pas de conjuguer « be » au temps de la phrase active)
a.The steam engine was invented by them in England in the 19th century.
b. « Oliver Twist » and « Hard Times » were written by Charles Dickens.
c. A vacuum cleaner is used by every body today.
