1/ Innovation from a business point of view is the process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates value or for which customers will pay. This idea must satisfy a specific need of the customer.
From a social point of view innovation creates method to help people at their work and/or at home. In this specific context there are mainly two kinds of innovations:
A/ Evolutionary innovations that tend to appear with technology advances.
B/ Revolutionary innovations which are supposed to be something new that might create new markets for example.
2/ Innovation is important to the advancement of society. Many new products have increased the standard of living and improved our lives. Similarly, Innovations in medicine and technology have had huge impact on individuals and society as well. We are constantly trying to discover new things to improve our everyday life whether it is at work or at home. During the 20th century there were many innovations that helped us improve the society in which we live in. For instance, the means of transport have improved throughout the 20th century which enable us to move to farther distance in less time. Computers are also worth mentioning because they play an important role in the last century because they could make it possible to receive, supply and process large volumes of data at very high speed. At the end of the century the apparition of the internet probably became one of the most powerful innovation in our lives for the reasons we all know today.
In medicine innovations have permitted better health care systems with robotic assisted surgery. New sophisticated devices even enable surgeons to use brain stimulation which makes it possible to find out new treatments in neurosurgery.
3/ What Steve Job states is that changes must be regarded as opportunities and not as threats. This statement seems definitely true for several reasons since every one of us notices that innovations have greatly improved our lives. but is it always the case? Aren’t there any possible threats with innovations. If we have a closer look at artificial intelligence for instance, one can wonder if it is still a good thing if robots are one day able to think like humans. Science fiction stories have depicted societies led by robots where the human being is considered as a slave. Of course, all this belongs to the fiction field but fiction sometimes becomes reality. In spite of ethical issues due to certain innovations I nevertheless think that innovations are necessary for our society which permanently needs to evolve.
Explications : Reprends la question 3 en essayant de trouver une ou deux innovations qui vont dans le sens de Steve Job et une ou deux qui le contredisent. J'ai évoqué l'intelligence artificielle mais tu dois pouvoir en trouver d'autres
