The notion i'm going to deal with is “The idea of progress” .

First, you must define the idea of progress.

Progress is the action to go forward, to grow, to be better and the idea is a representation of something in the mind.

So the idea of progress means the representation of a possible evolution.

Problématique : we may ask ourselves about new tecnologies : advantages or disadvantages ?

First Prev In time I will say that the new tecnologies are benefits for men and for society but also disadvantages for men and the planet.

To start I will say that the new technologies are an advantage because can facilitate the daily lives of consumers, eg the washing machine or car.
At the medical level, they can treat more diseases and save many more lives.
We can speak with a person who is at the other end of the world, facebook or msn.
In case of problem, we can contact the family the police or ambulance thanks to the phone.
For companies, progress is saving time therefore money.
Exchanges are very fast especially with the internet or through electronic mail dun.
I will also add that companies have a facil document management and a better ability to store information.
You can also send CV via the Internet to look for work.

However, new technologies are also disadvantages, indeed new technologies cause polutions in several cities, with cars and factories.
So gradually they are destroying the planet.
I would also add that many people are addicted to new technologies, and more come home, they are isolated with their new technologies
they spend more time with the new technologies with their families or friends in reality .

To conclude I would say that the new technologies are important in our daily lives, parcequ'elles our lives easier, such as car or bus to work or go to school.
But they pollute the planet more and more people are addicted and isolated from them
