a. Jacob's brother was washing the dishes when he broke a plate.
b. His father was painted the front door when my mother came back home with groceries.
c. The dog and the cat were sleeping on the sofa when his brother scared them.
d. The hamster was playing in his wheel when the cat ran into the cage!

le prétérit BE + V-ing > pour des actions passées qui étaient en cours
