I could hear my heartbeat as I ran through the town. Although it was the middle of the day, ominous black clouds loomed over the small clusters of houses, leaving a terrifying feeling. The dogs barked as I passed them, and I was glad of this sign of reading, for there was no other clue that there was another living thing here.
But still I hoped, yes I hoped with all my being, to finally meet someone else alive as much as I was. Here, alone, I lost track of time, it must have been four or maybe even five years since my whole universe was turned upside down. I called it The Great Storm: a hurricane that plunged the country into darkness and fear, accompanied by strange blue lightning bolts that crawled along the buildings, looking for its prey, whether it was a woman or a man.
for its prey, which it kills or transforms. And here I am, 5 years later, on a ravaged Earth, trying to understand and survive in this other world.
Because in this world, it's survival or death.
