Afterwards, Ben continues to act by himself and supports a small group of black people, including his driver Stanley Makhaya, to interview others to promote political change. The white police notice their intentions and arrest some responsible people. To have a trial, Ben du Toit collects affidavits and HIDES the information at his house. Ben informs his son about his plans. His son and his daughter both get to know the hiding spots of their father's secrete documents. After the police search through Ben's house, there is an explosion next to the hiding spot because Ben's daughter Suzette betrayed it to the police. Fortunately, Ben's son had saved the documents before. Gordon's wife Emily, now a widow, is killed when she refuses to be evicted from her home. Ben du Toit's wife leaves him. His daughter offers to help her father to get the hidden documents to a safer place. They meet at a pizza restaurant where Ben gives his daughter fake secret documents which she delivers to police Captain Stolz. Indeed, instead of giving his daughter the secret DOCUMENTS , Ben passes her a book about art. The SECRET documents had been earlier passed on through an underground network. At the end, Ben du Toit is intentionally run over by police Captain Stolz who is later shot by Stanley in revenge.
