Max came from a poor background and was hated by the peope that lived there. Due to their economical issues his mother became sick and couldn't be treated. After suffering because of this loss he decided to borrow money and established a pharmacy that would be free to people that had the same poor background.
Just as he made his first few thousand dollars the villagers were starting to be nice to him and stated that they always enjoyed having him around.
He knew they loved him for his money and decided to push them back refusing their demands.
