It is a thanksgiving day, celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November to thank God for the harvest and for all the good things that may have happened during the year. The origin of this federal holiday dates back to 1621, when the Pilgrims (British settlers) were harvesting their first harvest. The family dinner that takes place on this occasion is traditionally composed of a turkey with cranberries accompanied by sweet potatoes and ends with a pumpkin pie.
