Anil doens't seem to live a "luxurious" or "modest" and even less "kingly" life. (tu peux citer le texte si tu le souhaites : "his room over the Jumna Sweet Shop", "told me I could sleep on the balcony").

2. Anil laughed because he was tickled by a joke cracked by the young boy about his cooking. (c'est la réponse la plus probable pour cette question. c'est surtout une interprétation de texte alors à mon avis il peut y avoir plusieurs réponse et c'est la bonne pour moi!)
