Of course, I am a poet. If you first look at the definition of a poet, it is someone who uses the art of rhythmical composition. Although that's what all rappers do everytime they compose a rap song. Rap is still poetry and it is only spoken. Rappers also like to play on words so to use language to strike the imagination. Obviously, it has some specificities like any other poetic genre. For the instance, a rap song must tell a story. It all depends on the poet's mood because when he writes, he has an intention. I think the imagine of the poet has changed over time. To conclude, I would say that rappers are the poets of today.
