Mettre à la forme interrogative puis négatives
1- The kitten was in the garden.

The kitten wasn't in the garden.
2- Mrs Brown had a brand new wahing-machine.

Mrs Brown didn't have a brand new washing mashine.
3-Ken and his sisters were at school.
Were Ken and his sisters at school ?
Ken and his sisters weren't at school.
4- The Robisons had a large garden.
Did the Robinson have a large garden ?
The Robinsons didn't have a large garden.
5- I was a good pupil.
Was I a good pupil ?
I wasn't a good pupil.
6- The Queen had good ideas.
Did the Queen have good ideas ?
The Queen didn't have good ideas.
7- We were late.
Were we late ?
We weren't late.
8- The dog was hungry.
Was the dog hungry ?
The dog wasn't hungry.
Ici, on ne parle uniquement de to be et to have
TO BE étant déjà un auxiliaire, on n'utilise pas l'auxiliaire "do" au présent ou "did" au preterit.
phrase interrogative = Be + sujet + complément + ?7
phrase négative = sujet + be + not + complément

To have, lui, peut être utilisé comme verbe lexical ou auxiliaire.
S'il est utilisé avec un participe passé, il sera auxiliaire
Si il est utilisé seul , il est alors verbe lexical, et donc, on emploie l'auxiliaire "do" au présent et "did" au prétérit pour former les formes interrogatives et négatives.

EXO 4 traduire
1- Who was the principal of your school ? (il y a plusieurs façons de traduire "principal du collège.. Regarde dand ton cours ce qui est étudié "head teacher", "head master"...)
2- The teachers sometimes had no patience (didn't have any patience) with us...
(si tu mets "no patience " laisse le verbe à la forme affirmative; si tu mets "any patience", mets le verbe au négatif....)
Ou alors
The teachers sometimes weren't patient with us..
3- We weren't bilingual two years ago !
4- June had very long red (ginger) hair.
5- My favourite basketball team were the Seattle's Mariners; they weren't the New York's Yankees.
6- In which state were you born ? I was born in Washington state.
7- Were the twins shy ? No, they weren't.
8- Did they have a good reason to be away ? Yes, they did.
