Explications :

Pour t'aider, tu peux penser à utiliser le prétérit be + v-ing quand c'est une action passée qui dure un certain temps, du genre "j'étais en train de faire ça".

Et pendant cette action, il se passe une autre action plus brève : "c'est alors qu'il se passa ça". Là, on utilise le prétérit tout seul (et ça malheureusement il faut étudier tous les verbes irréguliers, mais ça vient avec le temps!).

ou --> (Something) happened when I was doing (something).
