2- My parents no longer have this car. They have sold it.

3- Milly is delighted because her father has been travelling a lot but now he is back.

4- I can't recognize Tom. He has changed a lot.

5- I was late and my parents had been waiting for a long time.

6- The bakery was no longer open. It had closed down.

7- Peter no longer lives here. He has gone away.

8- We arrived at the theatre late. The play had already begun.

9- Tom was tired. He had been working all day.

have/has + p. passé

Le past perfect situe une action antérieure à celle énoncée au prétérit.

had + p. passé

On utilise les formes progressives pour insister sur la durée.
