(...) c'est to be conjugué au prétérit + BV-ing. Puisque be est un adverbe, c'est lui qui s'accorde avec le sujet (deux formes au prétérit, was ou were), qui porte la négation (was not/wasn't ou were not/weren't), qui (...).
take = taking
sit = sitting
hug = hugging
