Street art comes from the gangs in 1920s and 1930s in New York. The impact of this subcesive culture was extraordinarily falt in the 1970s and 1980s. Street art is important to keep urban areas and their residents energized and inspired. In some areas artists and building owners come together to foster the cration of artwork that can be viewed as beautifying and reanimating a city, rather that destroying it.
