The term "speed of electricity" covers in practice two completely different phenomena:
The speed of the electrical signal: close to the speed of light1; this speed corresponds to the starting speed of the electrons (or charge carriers) along the wire;
The speed of electric charges: a few fractions of a millimeter per second for a direct current but almost zero for an alternating current.
