This is because the president is not chosen directly by the voters, but by what is known as the electoral college.
a) Contrary to the French president, the American president is not directly elected by the people.
B) In France, elections always take place on a Sunday, whereas in the USA, Election Day takes place the Tuesday following the first Monday in November.
C) The American president is elected in one round while in France, it usually takes two rounds to elect the president.
