Explications :

Quand le sujet est au singulier on utilise "is" (She is nice, Rosa is funny, He is cute, My family is amazing), mais si le sujet est au pluriel on utilise are (They are great, My friends are lovely).

Lors des questions, si on se dirige directement à la personne on utilise "are" (Where are you from? Are you single? Are you hurt?), mais si on parle d'une autre personne on utilise "is" (Where is she from? Is he single? Is she hurt?)

I am/ I am not, I ain't

You are/ You are not, You aren't

He/She is/ He is not, He isn't

It is/ It is not, It isn't

We are/ We are not, We aren't

They are/ They are not, They aren't

You (en anglais le "you" peut être utilisé au pluriel et au singulier) are/ You are not, You aren't
