LE PAST PERFECT
Le past perfect se forme avec l'auxiliaire HAVE au prétérit + le participe passé du verbe.
Ex : He had worked / He hadn't worked / Had he worked ?
They had seen / They hadn't seen / Had they seen ?
L'énonciateur se place dans le passé (prétérit) et regarde un passé antérieur à ce passé (past perfect). il fait un retour en arrière et instaure un lien entre deux actions passées.
Ex : The lesson had already begun when I arrived in class.
1ère action : la leçon commence
2ème action : j'arrive en classe (je suis en retard)
La leçon avait déjà commencé quand je suis arrivé en classe
