Starting out in singing and dancing at a young age, Brown signed with the Jive Records label in 2004, and released his debut self-titled album the following year. It reached second place on the American Billboard 200, and was later certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). With his first single Run It! topping the American Billboard Hot 100, Brown became the first musician since Diddy in 1997 to have his first single ranked #1.By 2013, he has a total of 9 million albums worldwide and approximately 35 million singles. His YouTube channel is also one of the most watched in the world, with his video clips totalling nearly 3,500,000,000 views, and ranks No. 9 in the world as of December 30, 2012. It even beats the record held by Lady Gaga by gathering 18,000 fans at her concert for the Today Show, broadcast on NBC. Following the media coverage of his case of violence against Rihanna, Chris Brown announced via Twitter that he would end his career after the release of his sixth album X, but finally reversed his decision.
