Ireland WAS a British colony for a long time. Irish nationalists DIDN’T WANT to be controlled by Britain so they FOUGHT against the British government. When the civil war ENDED, the southern part of Ireland OBTAINED independence but the countries in the North WERE still under British control. The conflict WASN’T over.
