Exercice A

When she was a child, Rachel would have learned to play the piano, if her parents had enough money to buy one. Her friend, Jacques, would play the cello in Canberra college orchestra if he was good enough, but he isn’t. He would like to join. If he played in the orchestra, he would have been able to make some new friends. He is looking for a better job, and if he found one he would start having cello lessons. His cello is not very good, but if he earned more money he would buy a better instrument. Nadir had a beautiful old cello at home in Tunisia, and if he knew that Jacques wanted to play, he would have brought it to Australia when he came.

Exercice B

Explications :

Pour l’exercice A, il y a quelques moments où je n’étais pas sûre si on employait le conditionnel ou le conditionnel passé (pour rappel le conditionnel passé c’est j’aurais été = I would have been ) J’ai mis le conditionnel passé quand toute la phrase était au passé.
