I chose the movie Joker which is a psychological thriller film directed and produced by Todd Phillips. The lead actor was Joaquin Phoenix and played Arthur Fleck also known as ‘the joker’. The plot was about the evolution of Arthur Fleck as a villain. He worked as a clown and aspired to become a stand up comedian. He had mental health issues including one which caused him to laugh uncontrollably when he was nervous, and often got him into bad situations. He has been disregarded and mistreated by society. As a result he began a slow descent into madness and eventually became Gotham's infamous criminal mastermind known as the Joker.
I really enjoyed the movie, the actor’s performance was fascinating. The movie was both interesting and disturbing. I think it conveyed the message that society needs to do more to support its poor and those in need of psychological and medical care.
