The boy was falling asleep when the teacher suddenly shouted at him.
The post arrived while they were having breakfast.
He was thinking of his girlfriend when suddenly she arrived.
She knocked at the door, but Tom was watching TV.
Exercice 2 :
When I arrived at the theatre, I realized that something strange was going on. People were running in every direction, children were screaming. An old lady was crying but nobody was paying attention to her. The policemen around weren't doing anything.
Exercice 3 :
Suspect 1 : I was watching a film on TV. My wife was preparing dinner.
Suspect 2 : My husband and I was visiting the new shopping centre that opened last week. We were looking for some new chairs for the kitchen.
Suspect 3 : What do you think I was doing ? Do you think I killed this man ? What about you ? What were you doing ?
On utilise le prétérit simple pour des actions courtes et le prétérit en be+v-ing pour des actions longues.
