Fencing is really more than just a sport. To me, it is a passion!
Fencing is an intense and exciting sport. The rule is to hit your opponent while avoiding being hit yourself. So you must have a warrior spirit. However, this is not a fight based on force: a good fencer must know how to observe, analyze and anticipate. Therefore, it is a strategic and emotional sport.
Fencing is a major French Olympic sport, but it is also a historical discipline, long considered as an art. From this tradition, we still have the dimension of respect and self-control, which are extremely important both in training and in competition.
Fencing is one of the very few sports where French is the official language. Each country uses its language for national competitions, but as soon as the competition becomes international, French is compulsory for arbitration.
Fencing uniforms look extremely cool. The appearance isn’t the most important thing. The jacket and the mask make us feel something magical when we slip them on.

Fencing is a tactical sport. We work on speed, on reaction and execution. Then, there are moments to attack, to defend yourself. It's very tactical. It teaches you to think.
