Maxwell Alejandro Frost in a public meeting for his election to the Congress. Maxwell Alejandro Frost wants to win a seat in the U.S. Congress on 8 November and he won't let his young age stop him. Frost is 25, the minimum age, but he's been campaigning for gun control and civil rights since he was 15 Frost won a Democratic Party primary election to become the candidate in one of the Florida seats in the House of Representatives at the midterm elections. He wants to represent young people but also every voter who needs good affordable housing and healthcare. He wants to champion laws to stop gun violence and combat climate change like the Green New Deal proposed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Frost was born in 1997, so he would be the first member of Generation Z to be elected to Congress. He told ABC News he hopes to be part of, "The diversity that's needed in Washington, DC, which includes diversity of age but also experience and also race and everything under the sun." HELP affordable (adj) reasonably priced, not expensive Generation Z (exp) people born in the late 1990s and early 2000s
Frost grew up in Orlando, Florida, in a family from Cuba. When he was 15, he was a volunteer helping President Obama get re-elected and organised to participate in the President's second Inaugural Parade with his high-school salsa band. The same year, he was terribly shocked by the Sandy Hook school shooting in Massachusetts in which 20 children and six adults died. He became an activist against gun violence. He has worked as an organiser for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a civil- rights organisation, and March for Our Lives, the anti-gun organisation founded by the survivors of the Parkland school shooting in his home state As an organiser, he campaigned to get young people out to vote, and that came in useful when he faced nine other candidates for the Democratic nomination for Florida's 10th congressional district This summer, Frost tried to get Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis to talk about gun control after a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas in which 19 students and two teachers were killed. DeSantis refused any dialogue and in a video that went viral, shouted at Frost, "Nobody wants to hear from you!" Frost intends to prove on 8 November that a majority of voters do want to hear from him
